The story of smart Safe Stadiums:

The setting off of fireworks, discriminatory sounds from supporters, and the throwing of objects onto the football field. This ruins the experience and atmosphere for many supporters, players, and football clubs during a match in a football stadium. To prevent this, the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) and the Dutch Government initiated the "Our Football Belongs to Everyone" challenge to stimulate innovative, technical solutions. EventMon, along with its partners, is participating in this challenge.

EventMon is working on an innovation called Smart Safe Stadiums. With this innovation, EventMon is one of the finalists for the Innovation Award of the Zwolle Region.

EventMon ensures that individuals and organizations can safely conduct business and transactions through an app, based on the user's identity and with the user's consent. In the case of the challenge, it concerns stadium visitors. The innovation Smart Safe Stadiums consists of two parts.

The first part of the innovation involves linking a real identity through a fan app. As a visitor, you will receive a personal digital access pass for the stadium. "You must be able to identify yourself if you want to buy a ticket, club card, or season ticket. EventMon automates this process so that the supporter can arrange it with their smartphone, at home on the couch, before the match," explains a representative from EventMon. "Only with the supporter's consent, we provide the necessary information to the football club. By linking the ticket to a real identity and a place in the stadium, the club can, if necessary, find out who is sitting where in the stadium."

Smart technology

The second part of the innovation revolves around early recognition of unwanted behavior during the match. For this purpose, a tool is used that processes real-time video and audio material from existing cameras and microphones in the stadium. "By utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI), unwanted behavior is detected early. For example, a banner with a racist symbol. The AI model helps the security personnel maintain an overview of what is happening in the stadium. It is not the technology, but the security personnel who determine whether what they see and hear is against the rules," says a representative from EventMon.

Benefits of the innovation:

- It improves the safe and enjoyable stadium experience.
- It simplifies and speeds up the identification process.
- The solution is privacy-proof.
- It is scalable, adaptable to different situations, and applicable to multiple events and sectors.
